Laser treatments have been performed in periodontal therapies for many years now. But limited clinical research lack to enable any efficacy.

When used in conjunction with mechanical root planning, correct use seems to reduce bleedings and enhance patient comfort. Results seem to vary from a device to another.

Preventing periodontal disease

Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, is caused when bacteria in plaque (a sticky, colourless film that forms in the mouth) build up between the gums and teeth. When the bacteria begin to grow, the gums surrounding the tooth can become inflamed.
